As we enjoy the summer waters and rains, don’t forget to stay prepared for Hurricanes.  Make sure you have a plan.  Stay in touch with weather forecasts.  Prepare your yards and gardens, securing items that could go air-borne.  Get you Homeowners identification for beach access during emergencies.  Have your insurance information available.  Stay safe.

The new Waste Stations!  Located at the beach access and at the end of Carlouel Drive at the public access, these post have bags for you to use as you walk your dogs.  Please take your bag home with you and dispose of it in your trashcan!  We hope this reminder will help keep our grassy areas clean.

Thanks to Alex Buxenbaum for installing them for us!

If you drive to the south end of Bay Esplanade or Narcissus Ave. you will see that our perimeter looks REALLY good!  That’s because we have two hard-working, caring neighbors.  Tom Vasilaros and Scott Arnold decided to rake the area, trim the palm trees and trim the oleanders and weed under them.  What a difference it has made.  After hours of work, we can say that it is a job well done!  Thank you both.

As of this moment, 3:30 on Thursday, September 7th, I know the following that applies to our community…

*we are on a mandatory evacuation as of 6am Friday 9/8

*you should have your emergency homeowners pass – if not go to Clearwater Police Dept. and get one now!

*you may go back and forth between your home and your shelter UNTIL THE BRIDGES ARE CLOSED.

*please secure anything that could be blown away – like your trash cans, flower pots, lawn chairs, outdoor sculptures.

*lock your home, garage, shed.

*we recommend finding someplace off island for your vehicles – maybe a city garage, friend’s home.

*call the police at 911 for any seen looting or medical emergency

*call non-emergency questions to Clearwater police -562-4242

*call county emergency management for evacuation and bridge closure questions -464-4333

Will up date this as I learn more.

Clearwater Beach Neighborhood Newsletter, put out each month by Bob Griffin, had a feature article about our own Sally Bucko and her late husband, Charlie.  It tells of their life in Clearwater in the early days, about his life as a crabber.  Hope you have a chance to enjoy it.

On a sunny Sunday we worked hard to get rid of the paint on the shell at our entrance.  We had some success and think it looks better.  Mary Ellen worked hard, with Donna helping out.  Sue just diverted traffic!IMG_8695 IMG_8696
